Fitness Assessments

Getting a fitness or health assessment is a great way to understand your current fitness level and track your progress to meet your fitness goals. Assessments are recommended prior to beginning an exercise program and throughout the progression of your exercise routine.

Downtown Fitness Assessments

The Assessment Center located inside the Sun Devil Fitness Complex at the Downtown Phoenix location is located in the personal training suite on the bottom floor. All Assessment packages can be purchased in the Administrative suite (third floor) of the Sun Devil Fitness Complex. All assessments are conducted by a certified personal trainer.

Know Your Numbers Assessment

Know your numbers assessments provide a baseline of numbers that can be important to understanding general health status. In under 20 minutes, participants will have information on how their scores relate to national standards for their age/gender.

Components of Know Your Numbers Assessments:

  • Height
  • Weight
  • Blood Pressure
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Body Composition

Know Your Numbers assessments are offered free to all student and YMCA members.

Basic Fitness Assessment

Basic Fitness Assessments are designed to give a participant more information specifically to fitness goals. Basic Fitness Assessments will take between 30-45 minutes to complete.

Components of Basic Fitness Assessments:

  • Weight
  • Blood Pressure
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Body Composition
  • Cardiorespiratory Endurance
  • Muscular Strength
  • Flexibility

Single Assessment

Student: $10

Non-Student Member: $15

Packaged Assessments (includes 6 assessments)

Student: $35

Non-Student Member: $45

Personal Training Assessment

Personal Training Assessments will be conducted on all first time clients and for those who are actively participating in the personal training program. Personal Training Assessments provide both a client and trainer with the information that is necessary for program design.

  • Body Composition
  • VO2 Sub Max
  • Cardiorespiratory Endurance
  • Muscular Strength

Tempe Fitness and Performance Assessments

The Live Well Assessment Center, located inside the Tempe Sun Devil Fitness Complex, is a collaboration between the department of Kinesiology and the Sun Devil Fitness Complex. All assessments are performed by a certified personal trainer.

Cost

For both Fitness and Performance assessments the prices are as follows:

Single Assessment

Student: $10
Non-Student Member: $15
Non-Member: $20

Packaged Assessments (includes 6 assessments)

Student: $35
Non-Student Member: $45
Non-Member: $55 

 

Single Assessments

Choose any of the following single assessments: Body Composition, Cardiorespiratory Endurance, Muscular Endurance, Muscular Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Agility, Anaerobic Endurance,Kinesthetic Awareness, or Reaction Time. 

Assessment Packages 

Health Assessments
  • Resting Blood Pressure/Heart Rate 
  • Body Composition - Used to describe the percentages of fat, bone, and muscle in the human body.
  • Includes all of the following:
  • Height and Weight
  • Body Mass Index (BMI) - Used to estimate a healthy body weight based on a person’s height.
  • Waist/Hip Ratio - Used as an indicator of risk for developing a serious health condition.
  • Body Fat Percentage - Estimated based on the thickness of the skin and subcutaneous fat layer at several standardized body locations.
