Group Wellness consists of Mind + Movement, Cardio + Strength and Creative Expression

Group Wellness is the new and improved Sun Devil Group Fitness class schedule. Introducing creative expression classes such as painting and gardening, as well as classes that focus on meditation and relaxation. The SDFC is offering a new variety of classes and will continue offering the fitness classes we all enjoy. It's so much more than fitness, check it out! Group Wellness is free for full time students. SDFC members can purchase a Group Wellness pass for $60/semester or $20/month.

Class Descriptions

Disclaimer: Group fitness instructors are prepared and trained to help participants of all levels meet their health and fitness goals. All class levels can be modified to meet beginning, intermediate and advanced exercisers. If you have injuries or conditions, please talk with your instructor prior to class beginning.

Mind/Body

Acro Yoga
An introduction to acro yoga, this class includes a blend of yoga, acrobatics, and Thai massage. You will spend a majority of the class practicing with others in small groups, which helps to cultivate trust, connection, and playfulness! Class cap: 24

Yoga: Restore
This is the perfect class to slow down and relax while focusing on releasing tension and stress held within the spine, joints and connective tissue. This practice consists of supported poses, guided relaxation, yogic breathing and an extended savasana. This meditative practice cultivates a necessary balance between body and mind while dissolving physical and mental tension.

Yoga: Gentle Flow
This class brings attention to core strengthening, balancing poses, inversions, breath and meditation. It is the full integration of the classical elements of yoga and promotes a sense of fluidity, power, spaciousness and clarity.

Yoga: Vinyasa Flow
This dynamic class includes vinyasa, ashtanga and standing asana. Attention is brought to core strengthening, balancing poses, inversions, breath and meditation

Yoga: Power
This challenging class incorporates many intermediate and some advanced postures and methods of practice. Physical poses, breath-control and meditation are included in each class. These dynamically flowing poses will include arm balances, inversions and more, with intermediate and advanced transitions. Be prepared to sweat, and be physically and mentally challenged.

Pilates
Ready to work your core? Condition, strengthen and stretch to develop a long lean body!

PiYo
PiYo combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. We crank up the speed to deliver a true fat-burning, low-impact workout that leaves your body looking long, lean and incredibly defined. No weights. No jumps. Just hardcore results.

Stretch
Stretch what you strengthen! Learn to increase flexibility and decrease your risk of injury while improving recovery time. Come ready to unwind and relax!

Dance

Ballet Barre
Use movements to tone and strengthen the entire body while increasing range of motion and flexibility, learn techniques. Create the body of a dancer with an intense total body workout that burns fat and sculpts long, lean muscles!

Dance Conditioning
This class helps to tone and strengthen the entire body while increasing range of motion and flexibility. Create the body of a dancer through core strengthening exercises, advanced stretching techniques, and ballet exercises.

Grind
A hot workout with the best hip-hop and popular music! This high energy workout will burn calories while boosting your twerk technique like never before.

Hip-Hop Cardio
Get fit with the latest dance moves in this high-energy class! This class provides continuous cardio using current music and hip-hop moves. No dance experience necessary!

Latin Dance
Learn basic rhythms and movement for merengue, salsa, bachata and cha cha. Tone abs, hips and thighs while getting in great shape and having fun!

Zumba® PARTY
Are you ready to party yourself into shape? That’s exactly what a zumba class is all about! It’s an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance party! Lose yourself in the music and join the party!

Cardio

Attack
This class allows you to train like a boxer, utilizing traditional boxing techniques and conditioning methods, in order to improve your overall fitness. This class uses boxing gloves and heavy boxing bags to add contact, resistance, force and power, which can take your training to the next level.
(Note: This class is non-contact, meaning you will NOT be hit).

Boxing and Conditioning
This class allows you to train like a boxer, utilizing traditional boxing techniques and conditioning methods, in order to improve your overall fitness. This class uses boxing gloves and heavy boxing bags to add contact, resistance, force and power, which can take your training to the next level.

Cardio Kickboxing
Ready to kick it up a notch? Let us improve your fitness level with moves like jabs, hooks, uppercuts and front kicks. Plan on getting a great cardio workout!

Cycle: 60/Cycle: 45
Cycling offers a low impact but high energy stationary bike workout that’s both fun and good for you. Workouts are designed to increase both cardiovascular fitness and strength levels. Get ready to sprint, climb and jump!

INSANITY
INSANITY is a revolutionary cardio-based total body conditioning program that pushes the participant to new training heights, resulting in more calories burned, faster results and a more efficient metabolism. INSANITY is a predesigned interval class that requires no equipment and is easy to learn and fun for all!

Plié
Create the body of a dancer with an intense total body workout that burns fat and sculpts long lean muscles! Use movements to tone and strengthen the entire body while increasing range of motion, learning technique and enhancing flexibility.

Step
Step it up! This aerobic based step class is designed for those who are ready to take it one step higher!

Strength

Body Pump
THIS is the original barbell class that allows you to strengthen and tone your entire body by giving you the power to choose a weight that is right for you. We’ll challenge every major muscle group by using the best weight room exercises choreographed to 10 tracks of great music!

Booty Works/Lower Body Resistance
A resistance training class focusing ONLY on the lower body and midsection. This one is for those of you who love to hate squats.

Hard Core
In this dynamic core conditioning class, you will flex, extend and rotate to work the spine in all directions, increasing your range of motion and strengthening your core.

Row and Rip
This total-body, circuit training conditioning class is centered on the rowing machines and will make you sweat like never before!

Strength
Increase your muscular strength, endurance and power like never before! This classes uses plate-loaded bars, dumbbells and resistance bands to target every major muscle group with intense weight room based exercises. Bring a towel; you’re gonna need it!

Combo

BOSU
Use the BOSU Balance Trainer and resistance equipment to get a full body cardio and muscular endurance workout while improving your balance, stability and coordination.

Hard Body HIIT
Get the most efficient workout by torching calories through this boot camp type, high-intensity, total-body conditioning. We’re changing up your workout with interval training, tabata circuits and much more! Be prepared to sweat!

Step and Strength
Make the most of your 60 minutes with cardio and strength training. Who says you can’t have it all?

Aqua

Aqua Fit
This water boot camp class will get your heart pumping and body moving while enjoying the great outdoors! No swim experience necessary.

Swim
This class is designed for those who already know how to swim. Each class will be a different swimming workout that burns calories in a low-impact environment!

Aqua Zumba®:
This class is perfect for those looking to make a splash by adding a low-impact, high-energy aquatic exercise to their fitness routine. Aqua Zumba® blends the Zumba® philosophy with water resistance, for one pool party you shouldn’t miss! There is less impact on your joints during an Aqua Zumba® class so you can really let loose. Water creates natural resistance, which means every step is more challenging and helps tone your muscles.
