ASU’s Sun Devil Fitness enhances the ASU experience by providing programs, services and facilities that promote healthy lifestyles, build community and enable student success. Sun Devil Fitness offers a variety of recreation, fitness and sport opportunities that include intramurals, group fitness, personal training, sport clubs and instructional classes. All of these programs welcome new participants each session. Get involved and get connected! As a current ASU student, you are already a member of Sun Devil Fitness. All students who pay the appropriate recreation and facility fees through their tuition have access to Sun Devil Fitness facilities on all four campuses by simply showing their ASU ID card. Come join us at the SDFC to start your successful healthy journey!

The healing effects of yoga

ASU researcher studying how online yoga can help those dealing with grief of stillbirth or symptoms of a rare blood cancer

Jennifer Huberty didn’t give much thought to the healing effects of yoga — until she lost her child.

It was Jan. 27, 2011, and the ASU health researcher was about to give birth to her first daughter, Raine Madilynne Huberty. She was 39½ weeks pregnant and looked up at the monitor, which revealed her 8-pound, 4-ounce child was not alive.

Tempe Pool is Open!

The Sun Devil Fitness Complex pool in Tempe is now open following a series of renovations. The pool and deck have been re-plastered, re-tiled, resurfaced and is ready for the swimmers. Thank you for your patience during the renovations and we look forward to seeing everyone at the new pool!

Setting the table for better health

New ASU program combines cooking, theater to promote healthy behavior changes

In ASU’s teaching kitchens in downtown Phoenix, the din of cooking activity is peppered with the sounds of friendly conversation. Just an hour ago, the white-aproned amateur chefs knew each other only casually.

Now they are cooking shoulder-to-shoulder and sharing stories inspired by the food, such as eating nopales and making tortillas with their grandmothers. They also discuss their roles in the cooking show they will record. As the group cooks, shares and later crafts a theater piece together, they are also promoting behavior that will help prevent type 2 diabetes....Read More
